Socket marked with fraction, 'D' over '71', Company 'D' Weapon '71'. Blade marked with inspection stamp 'Crown' over '4' and makers name 'WOOLLEY'. Bayonet marked with maker 'WOOLLEY', James Woolley *1, noted as BO supplier in 1793, known to have worked at Edmund Street, Birmingham in 1797. Became 'WOOLLEY & DEAKIN' on the 30th April 1803, therefore dating this bayonet as pre 1803.
