This is an interesting bess bayonet as it represents perhaps the last use of
the classic bess bayonet in an unaltered form. It belongs to a stand of
arms probably from a Country House in Ireland, and was found with its
Percussion Musket (stocked to take the 4" bayonet, but was also
provided with a Hanoverian spring catch).
The musket was made by 'KAVANAGH DUBLIN' and dates between the mid to late
1830's.
