1797 India Pattern Scabbard with matching Regimental Markings

OA 447mm Width 80mm    Width of Scabbard throat 40mm

India pattern scabbard with stitching on side seam to the left of frog stud.

This is an exceptionally rare example of a Regimentally matched Brown Bess bayonet and scabbard.  Very few British bayonets appear to have full Regimental marks prior to the Pat.1842,  and even fewer British scabbards carry full Regimental markings prior to the Pat.1853 scabbard.

Marking denotes 'G' company,  weapon number '36',  69 regiment.  The 69th  are the South Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot.

Just above the frog stud the faint stamp of a broad arrow '/|\' above 'BO' can be seen in the leather.
