Production figures appear to be 5,000[1] newly made bayonets, with a further 565 being converted from obsolete Duke of Richmond bayonets.
These two pictures illustrate the small degree of travel (about 15o) of the basil locking ring.
Blade marked with maker 'WHEELER' [2], Robert Wheeler, Snow Hill, Birmingham, noted between 1804 and 1830.
