“THE QUEENS OWN” / “LIGHT INFANTRY”
The Queens Own Light Infantry, Tower Hamlets Militia.
In 1793 this Battalion completed for service as the” 2nd or Queen’s Own Tower Hamlets Militia”, and was subsequently designated “The Queen’s Own Light Infantry”
In 1864 the Regiment was named “The Queen’s Own Royal Tower Hamlets Militia”, and in 1881, under Territorial organization, the 5th Battalion The Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort’s Own).

South Middlesex Rifle Volunteers Other Ranks. Formed 14th October, 1859 at Waltham Green. Joined KRRC in 1881 as a VB but retained designation until it became the 10th Bn. Middlesex Regiment 1st April, 1908.

37th St Giles and St Georges Middlesex Volunteer Rifles formed 1860.
Became the 19th St Giles and St Georges Bloomsbury Rifles in 1880.
Became a Volunteer battalion of the Rifle Brigade in 1881 without change of title.
