Another variation of Ryan Fig.146 with a difference in the scroll and crown.

Scarce variation of Ryan Fig.146, the numbers are not outlined unlike the previous shown examples, and the maple leaf at each corner of the ends does not extend proud of the corners unlike the previous examples.

 

 

Other ranks pre.1871, I’m not sure if the outer ring is correct?

“ROYAL NEWFOUNDLAND COMP”

Royal Newfoundland Company, 1824-1862.

Formed from former servicemen from the Royal Hospital for Invalid Soldiers at Chelsea. Became the Royal Newfoundland Company in 1842. Absorbed into the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment in 1862.
