A rare clasp, perhaps only worn for a few months, during the period May to July 1881 as part of the Childers Reforms, when the 10th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers became the 1st Volunteer Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment and adopted their Lion without “4” below. They would then adopt the Lancaster Rose below the Lion as per the Regular Battalions.
